Community guidelines

These guidelines explain what GatePlug (operated by Ivii Limited) allows on event listings, and how the community can report content that breaks the rules. They sit alongside our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

GatePlug is a marketplace for legitimate entertainment, cultural, sports, business, and community events. Organisers are responsible for their listings and for running events lawfully and safely. We may remove listings, restrict accounts, or take other action when these guidelines or our Terms are breached.

1. Who these guidelines apply to

  • Event organisers when creating, editing, or promoting listings
  • Anyone who buys tickets, browses events, or reports a listing
  • Content on GatePlug pages, including titles, descriptions, images, videos, lineup, FAQs, organiser terms, and refund policies

2. Allowed events

Listings should be for real events that organisers have the right to sell tickets for. Typical examples include concerts, festivals, clubs, conferences, workshops, sports fixtures, theatre, comedy, networking, and community gatherings.

Organisers must:

  • Provide accurate dates, venues, prices, age restrictions, and entry rules
  • Comply with applicable law, licensing, health and safety, and consumer protection rules
  • Honour advertised policies for admission, refunds, and cancellations where those apply
  • Own or have permission to use the images, branding, and other media in the listing

3. Prohibited content and events

Do not list or promote events or content that involve or facilitate:

Illegal or dangerous activity

  • Illegal drugs, unlicensed weapons, or other criminal activity
  • Fraud, scams, phishing, or deceptive fundraising
  • Content that encourages violence, terrorism, or extremism
  • Activities that create a clear risk of serious harm to attendees

Hate, harassment, and abuse

  • Hate speech or discrimination based on protected characteristics
  • Harassment, threats, doxxing, or targeted abuse
  • Defamatory or intentionally false claims meant to harm people or organisations

Sexual and exploitative content

  • Pornography or sexually explicit material unsuitable for a general marketplace
  • Any sexual content involving minors, or the sexualisation of minors — zero tolerance
  • Non-consensual imagery or deepfakes of a sexual nature

Misleading or fake listings

  • Events that do not exist, or tickets the organiser cannot honour
  • Materially false dates, venues, capacity, or pricing meant to deceive buyers
  • Impersonation of another organiser, venue, brand, or artist without permission

Intellectual property and spam

  • Clear copyright or trademark infringement (for example, selling tickets you have no right to sell, or using protected branding without permission)
  • Spam, mass-duplicated listings, or manipulative SEO-style junk content

Platform abuse

  • Attempts to bypass security, scrape data, or interfere with GatePlug systems
  • Using listings to collect personal data for unrelated marketing without a lawful basis

If you are unsure whether a listing is allowed, do not publish it — contact us first.

4. Age-restricted and sensitive events

Age-restricted events (for example 18+) are allowed when the restriction is clearly stated and lawful. Organisers must enforce age checks at the door where required.

Events involving alcohol, late-night entertainment, or adult themes must not use misleading “family-friendly” framing. Content that is legal but adult in nature still must not cross into prohibited sexual or exploitative material described above.

5. Accuracy and buyer trust

Buyers rely on listings to make purchase decisions. Organisers should:

  • Keep descriptions up to date when plans change
  • State refund and cancellation rules clearly when refunds are offered
  • Avoid bait-and-switch pricing or hidden compulsory fees beyond what GatePlug discloses at checkout
  • Not invent reviews, social proof, or official partnerships

Honest promotional language is fine. Deliberate deception is not.

6. Reporting an event

Anyone can report a listing that appears to break these guidelines or our Terms.

On an event page, use Report this event, choose a reason, and add brief details. Reports are protected by a security check (Cloudflare Turnstile) and are reviewed by the GatePlug team.

Please:

  • Report in good faith — do not use reports to harass organisers or competitors
  • Include enough detail for us to investigate (what is wrong, and where on the listing)
  • Do not submit the same report repeatedly

We may contact you if we need more information. We will not always tell you the outcome of a report, especially where privacy or security is involved.

7. How we handle reports

When we receive a report we may:

  1. Review the listing and related account activity
  2. Ask the organiser for clarification or corrections
  3. Unpublish, remove, or mark the listing for deletion
  4. Restrict or terminate organiser access where appropriate
  5. Preserve records needed for safety, fraud prevention, or legal obligations

We aim to act on clear, high-risk reports quickly. Lower-risk or disputed cases may take longer. GatePlug decides enforcement at its discretion under our Terms.

8. Organiser responsibilities after a report

If we contact you about a report, respond promptly and accurately. You may be asked to edit the listing, provide evidence of rights or licences, or pause sales. Failure to cooperate may lead to removal of the listing or account restrictions.

9. Appeals and questions

If you believe we took action in error, contact support using the details on the website and include the event title, URL, and why you believe the decision was wrong. We will review appeals in good faith; our decision after review is final unless required otherwise by law.

For general questions about these guidelines, email support at the address published on GatePlug.

10. Changes

We may update these guidelines from time to time. The version on this page is the current one. Continued use of GatePlug after changes means you accept the updated guidelines.
